There are 1,012,000 soldiers on active duty in the Reserves or the National Guard. 261,000 are deployed overseas in 120 countries. 103,00 are in Iraq or about 10 percent. Include Kuwait and Afghanistan and the percentage is closer to 13.

I hope the forthcoming investigations will look into why 3,000 National Guard are in Iraq with most of the heavy equipment (including generators and high-water and other vehicles which could have helped with the rescue effort).
