Info: In northern parts of Canada, ice roads are critical for mine sites and their communities. These industries depend heavily on the roads for transportation of construction equipment, building materials, equipment parts, power generators and essential survival goods such as food and fuel.

The world's longest ice road is the 568km Tibbitt to Contwoyto winter road with 87% of the way over frozen lakes.
