Is being heckled, angry and drunk an excuse for 'trash talk', or does it just show Michael Richard's true feelings? Was his apology sincere?
Should he now fade into obscurity, or learn to handle the stage better? What do you think?

Racism comes in all colors. and when rage takes over and kicks in when your just too tired of listening to assh*les yacketyyacking away and trying their best to ruin your show and generally just sabotage his act... if pushed far enough even mother Theresa would blurt some nastiness out . They just kept throwing fuel on the fire, and Michael saw red. but its true what someone said here... its sad media sensationalize it. If a black comedian said " sit your cracka ass down honkey u aint yacking no more " MASSA"! ! people would laugh and itd be OK cuz its just a "joke" and because there are so much power in just yelling racism if you are black / brown its the strongest word that can win over any cardhand , the racismcard . the racism card is like the joker in the cardstack ... it should be removed before playing them. yes it was very wrong of micheal to use the racial slur and pretty damn stupid ... but i believe its oversensationalized ... its ok for black people everywhere according to society sort of to be racists ... but white people will be judged and labeled RACIST faster than you can say hypocrits. my point is ... isnt it racist to point him out because hes a white man who said slurs and let all the "white racism" slurs just pass . this whole media thing more or less underlined the racism towards whites. so its like plugging a hole with a cork by moving the cork from the hole beside it to stop a leak . sort of ...

He's a racist piece of shit. You can't blame anyone or anything (media, emotional pressure, etc) blaming is not accepting responsibility that is why he and anyone else who offers an excuse is shit.

I totally agree with every word Beck from Leicester wrote - couldn't have put it in better words myself, but those who are ignorant to other ppls race don't deserve to live on earth!

Racism will never die because the media will not allow it to... if the media quit sensationalizing it, it would fade away!

He didn't want to be heckled and he knew the best way to get back at them was to use the "N" word. He knew this would hurt them worse than anything else he could say. They called him "Cracker" and other names, all for the same reasons, sad, but true.

If a person of color hears a comic of the same color say the things he said, it would be considered funny. I believe if it's funny, then it's funny no matter who says it. People have a responsibility to themselves and have a choice of what they are going to let bother them and what's not going to bother them and let's face it, if we lived in a sterile world life wouldn't be that interesting and kinda boring if people didn't have something to b*tch about.

I for one do think his apology was sincere and he did not mean for it to come out that way. It's stand up comedy. All of it is raunchy humor. If ur familiar with stand up that you would hear racial slurrs left and right. I do think he took it too far and it was not appropriate however I do not think he is a racist bastard that deserves never to be forgiven.

Unfortunately in this day and age with politics the way it is you can't say "nigger" or "paki" or even "chinkey". 10 or more years ago you could say whatever you liked and nobody would bat an eyelid, in my own opinion, it shouldnt matter, these words are only generalisations of the people in question and shouldn't be taken offensively, does the "white man" bark at you when he's called so. We are all humans, WORDS ARE ONLY WORDS, are words the new enemy?????

Trash talk is trash talk. Words are words and name calling is childish. If you want to hurt someone by calling them a name then you are not in a mature frame of mind. What causes the immaturity is an endless journey back in time. Therefore if one later understands the behaviour as bad then why not be able to apologise, but do it again and you're pathetic.

I'm really angered by how some people have reacted to this. Some people think it's not a big deal, well it is. If it was white people in the audience that was pissing him off he wouldn't have been racist to them. Even as a white British person I'm always being called racist names in the streets by strangers, racism of any form is wrong. To the person that can't understand why people don't like the 'N' word; 'fuckers' etc are general words used out of anger. The 'N' word is a weapon against someone's skin colour that cannot be changed, thus much more personal and referring to one of mankind's most evil doings - black slavery!

Right, when you do have those occasional flip-outs in your lifetime what comes out is somehow linked with your general view of how the world really is. As for the apology, I think he meant to be sincere, but he didn't really take ownership of what he did. Instead, he kept saying "WE have to do something about this problem", when he shoulda been saying "I screwed up really really bad and I'm gonna never do it again, I promise." That's enough. Now stop talking, Michael.

His tirade is a reflection of his truest inner belief system, his innermost thoughts, his feelings period ...and what that says of him is that despite his fame and success he is nothing but a bigot...a racist at heart. Apology or not he does not deserve to be given anymore airtime...People with such opinions and out look on life should just be ignored...they are misfits in today's society where by and large people believe in the equality of all races. He is a "has been" and his views are just that... a relic of the past... We should just move on and not waste our time effort and energy debatting on such negative stuff...afterall there are far greater ills on this earth than a crabby old man and his antiquated belief system.

The truth often proceeds anger. I don't believe Richard's apology was sincere. He said what he meant and he meant what he said. He went on and on. It's sort of like pulling the trigger. After the first two shots are fired, for sure "man-down", but if you empty the barrell, you were shooting to kill. Richard's emptied his barrell. He wanted America to know how he felt. It displayed bottled-up anger. It also illustrates he has no class and he lacks social skills. He's completely washed-up. If he can't control his emotions, he's not of good use to an entertainment producer.

I think he was sincere about his apology, I think everyone is capable of anger outbursts, its just unfortunate that his was in the middle of a comedy stand-up act! I believe he is not a natural racist but just wanted to insult the heckler and the only thing he could think of was to insult his skin colour as it was an easy target. Lacking in professionalty I know, but everyone has a bad day.

anger is not an excuse to be raiscist and even if he was being heckled he should no better, all i can say is it is nice to know how he really feels and he should probably think of holding shows for the k.k.k maybe they are the kind of people who would like to hear this sort of talk ! remember in this day and age there is no room for raiscists they are as extinct as dodos

This; like Mel Gibson's outburst shows a lack of intelligence. We put these "stars" up on a pedestal and expect them to be perfect - they are not! Just imperfect people with massive egos.

It was not a big deal, black people can make fun of whites on stage saying we are crackers and such... he said some things and it got blown up because he is famous... if that was just some average Joe, nothing would have been said! LEAVE HIM THE HELL ALONE!

It's rude to call names... but since when is it a crime? People can say the F word, the S word etc... is the N word any worse? It's all offensive, but N... is derrogatory just like trailer trash. Grow up people! There are more important things to bitch about.

He's doing stand up comedy. Hecklers are part of the package. He should have put the loud mouths down with a witty insult; not a cheap racial slur. Any jackass could have used that word, and he is supposed to be better than that. He should have embarrassed the two jerks, and gone on with his act. For the record I'm an All American African, Blackfeet, Cherokee, Irish, Scots fractured human. Michael Richards dropped the ball.

He's not a true professional with pathetic out bursts like that, it was totally uncalled for. He shouldn't be allowed to be on TV again, it's not setting a good example. If he gets another chance what's stopping him from doing it again???
