Are videos like this dangerous? Are they likely to encourage or discourage kids to copy? What do you think?

Does anyone find it ironic that by putting the clip on TV they've shown it to a much wider audience than would have seen it on the internet anyway?

As a mature, intelligent adult, I find it disgusting that this sort of thing can be shown. Why the movie was not half way through before I found myself being spun round at great speed in an identical manner. Proof as if it were needed that this sort of thing can happen to anyone. Video games and violent movies have much the same effect upon me.

Typical kids with motorbikes - they should not have been on it to begin with and YES, these videos will encourage more kids.

I think children like that should be positively encouraged to pursue these dangerous activities. This will have a beneficial effect on the gene pool, especially in Crawley.

If you start banning certain types of clips, that amounts to censorship which as we know is never a good thing. Some sites check every clip submitted and attempt to moderate the content but again we're left with one person's opinion which amounts to censorship. We were all children once and all have done stupid things that have ended up with us being hurt in one way or another. If this stunt wasn't filmed and put on the net then word of mouth would soon enough have spread the word and more children would have tried it resulting in the same amount of injuiries just spread over a longer time frame. The only achievement would be to censor the internet. If this site didn't put it up then another would and in any event some spotty teenager would just have blogged it so the end result would be the same. There are enough sick videos on the net already and soon enough young people learn to vote down what they don't like. If we start to limit what is available in the net where will it all end???? Individuals and parents have always to accept responsibility for their own actions and if we try to legislate for every media, history has shown us that nothing really changes. It's only driven underground and hence popularised even more. We live in a "nanny" state enough and don't need pampering any more with governmental censorship. Just my two cents. I am a father of 5 children ranging from 10 to 22 years BTW.

This looks like the kind of stuff safety campaigners would show you as a warning. If you didn't know what centrifugal forces are before seeing this, you will have an idea afterwards.

Hopefully this will encourage some more mindless kids to copy and thus rid us of the weakest specimens of our race.

If some of our youth fancy a Darwin award it's up to them.

If the kids haven't got the brains not to do stuff like that, then they deserve to get hurt. Parents have no control over their kids nowadays.

It is up to parents to control what kids are exposed to and how they interact with others in the world. If parents don't set limits and let kids know consequences, they will never know. I learned many hard lessons by getting hurt and doing the wrong thing, all without the help of the internet. Western culture teaches society to not be responsible for their own actions. We, in the US, are more busy trying to find the person to blame than trying to prevent the problem in the first place. Welcome to 2006 in this wonderful global economic world we live in today. This whole topic is just more crap about crap. I only wish I could get more girls my age to imitate the porn stars in bed. At least that would be worth while ;P

Monkey see monkey do! Young people today seem poorly equiped to make good decisions in their behaviour and seem more prone to risky experiences. So if you feed them with not so bright ideas as this they are bound to not only copy but try and out do.

And showing this video on the news is less dangerous? Think before doing . . .

ITN News must have shares in YOUTUBE / MOPEDS & HOSPITALS NEAR TO KIDS PLAY AREAS. What a dopey report.

Interesting that ITV news had no problem with showing the video themselves. They say that more than a million people viewed it only, how many millions watch the news?

No, I think videos like that are fine. What is dangerous about this video? I don't see anything dangerous.

I hadn't seen it, or nor thought of it, until ITN showed it on prime time TV. Thanks for the inspiration!

How can they blame the internet for what is seen in the video? How was it recorded? With the internet? Why do they look for a scape goat? This would have happened whether the internet was around or not, what about it being film on a phone? I believe this will encourage kids not to do such a stupid thing, it would be quite shocking to a child or teenager, it was shocking to me. Do they really think all kids seeing that video will copy it, look at what happened to the girls, do they really think kids are that stupid? Or are the people who think the kids will do it, the stupid ones.

I think I would try it after seeing that.

If you're stupid enough to do it, I don't see why any one would give a rat's backside if you get hurt.

Typical footage from the Chav types in my home town! If kids are really stupid enough to copy this prank or do anything as stupidly dangerous they deserve everything they get... another useless waste of police time.

Guest: Attieon (759 days ago)
No, I don't think that these videos are dangerous. You saw how the kids on the merry-go-round were flung like a rag-doll, who would want to do that again? If kids aren't mature enough for videos like the ones shown, their parents should be warning them.

Guest: crile (759 days ago)
Of course such videos will encourage other kids to do the same! You just have to look at all videos that were copying that silly MTV show called "Jackass".

They make a big fuss about it being on the internet... but they show it on TV news? This makes no sense!!!
