It wouldn't work on an airliner as the size of the chute required would be so big it wouldn’t be able to deploy in time to save the plane. Plus the weight of the chute would be so high the airlines would have to reduce the number of passages on each flight by half which would, in turn, double the number of planes required to transport everyone around the world. Great idea for small planes and as this video shows a life saver.
