People should not get confused with 'Space' being 'Outer Space'. Space is an area i.e. the space in front of us that we are just about to walk into. The best way to illustrate that SpaceTime is one, is that for me to walk into that space, requires both the Space (i.e. dimension to walk into) and time to do it.
