Do those mortar shells detonate on impact? or are they on a timer, similar to a hand grenade?.. I thought that cooking a grenade off was holding it for a couple of seconds, so the person your throwing it at doesnt have a chance to dodge or throw it back. So why would the mortar tube be nearly red hot when cooking it off?

It did not "cook off". He only fired 4 rounds, and if you'll notice he was holding the tube with his BARE HAND. To cook off a round the tube would be nearly red hot. More likley a defective round, who knows how old that stuff is.

Did he hell James. If he'd been trained properly, he'd have known that you can't fire that many mortars that quickly without proper cooling. He "cooked" one off. That's why modern mortars have fluted cooling built into the bottom of the tube, to dissipate the heat.

Not that I'm someone who claims every video I see is fake, but I doubt very much that these terrorist folk are yelling "Allah Abkar" all the time like they do here. Surely, if you want a stealthy surprise attack, you shut up?

counter mortar fire got this turkey. A friend with some great high speed, low drag equipment caught a glimpse of the incoming round... It takes 3 to 4 rounds for anti mortar radar to pinpoint the launch location and shoot back...
