They dont need crossings because the people are clever enough to get out the way not like the UK where you get people run over at a crossing. How effing hard is it to take 3 steps out the way of a train?

Death rate in Mumbai alone from trespassing on railway tracks = 3500 (2002) Death rate in for entire UK railway system = 10 (2002) Clever enough maybe, fast enough - defiantly not!

we go to goa quite a lot and there is 0 health and safety. this is quite usual. seeing a family of 5 on a scooter is not unusual neither is seeing the rear guy on a scooter holding a pane of glass which sticks out 2/3ft either side. or even bigger items.

I think he/she might have ment crossing as stairways to cross between platforms were people can walk through. i'm sure they have staires but people always wanna do the easy way. there should be a law like other countries, but i guess in india no onegives a shit.
