I still think this is bloody spectacular though. They probably get medals for rifle twirling proficiency and stuff like that, like scouts get badges for lighting fires and stuff.

What, for just doing drill? How the hell do you get a medal for that. I thought you got medals for fighting in certain campaigns or battles. Am I right in thinking that grengrds is short for Grenadier Guards. It's a fact that no-one in the world can top Guardsmen for drill. The Queens Colour Squadron (RAF REGIMENT) are bloody good too. They do continuity drill (no orders) which is pretty dazzling.

How many months of practice to do that. Lots. How broken rifles? How many broken heads or busted teeth? None. Discipline and trust. Not to mention a lot of skill. Oh, and one more thing, nerves of steel to do that in front of Mum and Dad on graduation day or some such ceremony
