While the single child rule may have been harsh, it allowed for the country not to be crippled by it’s own population, and considering the size of said population, that could have had a significant impact on the rest of the world regarding the current overpopulation of the planet! Interestingly the Chinese government is currently reviewing it’s position n single child families and is looking to lift the previous restrictions imposed, so I aim your comment about research straight back at you!

Furthermore, I was aware that Northern Ireland is recognised as part of the UK, I merely utilized it to highlight that we’re all fallible! With regards to your one baby comment, I would have hoped that you could come up with a better argument than that to justify your hatred of a country (does hatred of a specific country constitute racism? Wow, photos of Chinese women hlding books between their knees leads to arguements about sectarianism in the UK and Ireland. Scotty, don't know where you get your facts but Protestants do not make up a large majority. Figures show a 46 - 44 split in favour of protestents and within 15 years it will be 50:50

Dan - you're a pillock. Protestants are in the large majority and Catholics are a minority. The protestant majority want to remain in the UK. Northern Ireland has existed as British territory since 1920, and ireland before that since the early mediaeval period. Northern Ireland no longer has a large British army presence, and has been ratified by both the League of Nations and the UN as being part of the UK. I agree what you say about Guantanamo, but not the UK in Northern Ireland. Check your facts first, mate - the most recent census shows that over 80% of Northern Irish want to be part of the UK. Oh and at least in the UK we don't leave dead babies in the street, or are you going to defend China's single child policy?

I have to say I find the whole situation hilarious! The west complains about china's record on human rights, etc, when the US runs a highly illegal torture camp in guantanamo bay! and the UK still occupies Northern Ireland, even though the Irish have been fighting for years to remove them! How about we clean up our own acts before trying to sort out other countries! do as we do not do as we say, we should lead by example! Until we can do that. then we have no right to comment or criticize!

You're not picking up the point that Tom has made, which is that flingthecow talks about human rights issues and yet encourages the abuse by purchasing chinese made goods. He reinforces it because he's too cheap to buy ethical consumer goods. So Tom says dont be hypocritical and enjoys the fruits of cheap labor and then whine about the conditions that create said labor.
