Well said, but too late for my neighborhood, I'm afraid. Espanol is already the primary lingo in this sunny part of the planet. Anyway, what did Churchill say on the subject? Two countries separated by a common language?

Tomska, that only works with FROGS, not lobster.Belgian, I'll bet U a CASE of Maine lobster U can't taste the difference between one that was dumped live in boiling water and one that was Pithed ( neelde in the head) or allowed to heat more slowly, without resistance and fright. The ONLY reson for cooking them live is to be sure you dont get sick. All shell fish produce toxins as they die and go bad QUICKLY. If its dead you don't know for how long and should not risk eating it.

if you turn the lobster upside down and rub the top of this head/neck they go into a trance, this is the way to boil them. try it.

Well, being Belgian I'm well acquainted with sadistic pleasures, and the reason people boil lobsters alive is the rush of adrenaline they produce when in mortal danger. This enhances the taste, and such is completely lost when you either kill the lobster beforehand, or heat the water slowly. It's a barbaric, decadent and horrifying custom, which ought to be reason enough to stop eating lobster period. Then again, barbaric, decadent and horrifying customs have rarely stopped people before.

nah your meant to put them in cold water and let it heat up slowly, makes them fall asleep apparently! pretty silly place to doze if you ask me.

IID1E4, it's more fun to throw them into boiling water - they make a screaming noise which increases sadistic pleasure. Also, using a needle is fiddly. Lastly, tossing them into hot water is easier, involving less effort.

You disappoint me.
I was so looking forward to another fascinating lecture on the natural superiority of the British mind.
