Maxwell, I also enjoyed Noggin the Nog, but preferred Ivor the Engine, was that his as well ? It seemed like his stuff. I liked that you said for the not so young, cause I can still enjoy it today.

I doubt we shall see his like again. I'm old enough to remember most of his work from Noggin the Nog onward. Lovely, gentle stuff for the young and not so young alike.
And when Bagpuss was asleep, All his friends were asleep. The mice were ornaments on the mouse organ. Gabriel and Madeleine were just dolls. Professor Yaffle was just an old wooden bookend in the shape of a woodpecker. Even Bagpuss himself, once he was asleep, was just an old, saggy cloth cat, Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams, But Emily loved him. Todays childrens programs don't engage the imagination in the same way, I loved all his programs, but bagpuss was best.

I've heard that story before, told by Oliver Postgate in an interview. It was actually a BBC exec who tried to censor the clanger's "expletives". In an esoteric twist, I bought a talking clanger toy for a friend's kid and that's the phrase that it says.
