Dubai relies on using oil to desalinate all the water it needs. When the cheap oil runs out, the whole area will go back to desert. It will be all over in 50 years.

to be able to create something like this is just stunning. it is a true engineering feet, however 1 big natural disasture and the whole island will be nothing more then a pile of ruble and sand. as beautiful as it is, i doubt it will survive for longer then 20 years, if nothing mayor happens to it in that time.

If you started showing any political tendencies not in line with the current regime I bet life would start to get a lot less comfortable - but they, why would you? Do you suppose these houses are for working people? Can you imagine what rush hour is going to look like when all these houses are occupied? It is still track housing and I can't believe people with money would want to live in these places especially with 37 degree plus temperatures 5 months of the year.
