Emma Maersk - Super container ship arrives from China 15,000 containers and a crew of just 13 men. Too wide for the Panama or Suez Canals, it is strictly trans-Pacific. Cruising at 31 knots means goods arrive 4 days before other container ships on a China / California run. Danish built at a cost of US $145,000,000+. But most of these containers are shipped back to China EMPTY! That's right - the US sends almost nothing back. What does that tell you about it's current financial state?

China will collapse sooner then you might think. They have made some huge investment mistakes that will cost them dearly within 20 twenty years. Not going to mention specifics though, could get me in trouble! The future is in each country meeting its own domestic needs for the essentials at least. My advice for every country is to buy locally even if it does cost somewhat more. Everyone will get some of this back via services paid by their government's tax system. "

I think that if it goes back empty it's because our high corporate taxes mean Chine can't afford to buy our goods...They can get them cheaper elsewhere.

That tells me the Danish are genius to sell something to China they'll only use half the time! And that we are giving China way too much money if they can afford to flounder it away like that under the current oil situations.

The Chinese make all kinds of goods, at the expense of their environment, send them here, and get back nothing but a bunch of rapidly depreciating paper money. The deal is getting too bad for them to last. I predict when they quit doing this, the price in Walmart will double or triple, and you'll see riot in the poor neighborhoods here.

the containers, no longer go back empty... im in the metals export business, and i find it hard to ship goods from mid-west and west coast to china, as the demand for containers is very very high!!

Yup, that's why we in South Yorkshire send our rubbish back to China - it's cheaper than recycling it here...Report

No, I get it. And all their lead too. I guess we can toss away some of our IOU's since we're giving so much aid now? Yeah right...Report
