No, it was brilliant acting. They are really first rate Chinese actors only pretending to be bad redneck actors. Some of Spielberg's best work.

But really... what is the point of all this...? Yes, of course it's staged. But it's not staged very WELL. I could set this up... and better... surely ANY of us could... I mean, by the time you've paid for a boat, why not see if you can book an actor? Y'know, just a straight out of drama school, jobbing actor? Better still, if you've got money to spend, why not get somebody less stupid than you to direct it...? Someone who might, for example, say "Why are we filming this on a tripod...?" ...anyway, just questions...

We're all in agreement over the fact that this was staged - it's fairly obvious and hardly worth mentioning, but I'm intrigued by the 'Photoshopped' comment. Did the bemused Bemum's computer freeze? Adobe make heap big bucks with a successful program that works very well with still images.
