Tom: that kind of retrograde thinking didn't do squat to keep snowboarders from riding ski-only resorts back in the 80s, and it sure as sh!t isn't going to accomplish anything else nowadays. Snowboard is here to stay and every year the percentage of snowboarders vs skiers increases on every resort. Get used to it :)

Thanks for the info Bungle. So the original snowboard was a toy. That makes a LOT of sense - it's a playground activity, not a sport.

Read below: The first modern snowboard was arguably the Snurfer (a portmanteau of snow and surfer), originally designed by Sherman Poppen for his children in 1965 in Muskegon, Michigan. Poppen’s Snurfer started to be manufactured as a toy the following year. It was essentially a skateboard without wheels, steered by a hand-held rope, and lacked bindings, but had provisions to cause footwear to adhere.[citation needed]

The truth is this is a totally unimpressive, ugly, lumply "sport" created via cynical marketing to sell ski gear to dimwits. The interviews at the end are pretty conclusive.
