the thing is the market can handle everything - it is just the people in charge think they can run things better than the invisible hand

He has got a point not only, will we see the "end" of the capitalism we had. The market cant handle everything, econimic experts know that, healthcare, education and social security must go back to the state. Also we will see new superpowers rising and old ones falling on this planet.

as the "bailouts" are in reality just purchases it seems we are entering an era of apparant capitalism but where the government owns everything, i thing the british government now owns 63 percent of RBS, whats going on is a complete tragedy as our western way of getting things done is much better than the savage chinese and russians

What a phoney. That assface is rich because of capitalism. I'll bet the blubbergut eats at McDonald's all day long between his trips to the bank.

If you are not filthy rich and you criticise ppl for saying that the system is wrong, then you are an uneducated, fukking idiot. I agree that this might not be the end of global capitalism, but it *really* could be the end of Western capitalism. If you want to know whats really happening go and read Paul Krugman, the recent winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics. http://tinyurl.com/33tjsa

dont see it as the end, but he talks some sense.

I hope hes right....capitalism is gay.

It's already the end, because we are stepping in to halt the collapse of banks, insurance companies, etc. Michael Moore is right, if we bail out the auto industry, it has got to be under new leaders. The auto industry came to beg congress for money, but when asked how much they needed to get them through March, they didn't have a clue. They had better have a realistic plan before they ask for a bailout. Bailout money has already gone to give corporate heads bonuses as well as stockholders.

Human nature makes us self serving and greedy..But society has to have control machinery in place to protect the weak from the greedy strong. The banks had no controlling laws hence the position we are in. Blame Bush and Thatcher.Regulated and controlled democracy is the answer.Naked capitalism only serves the few at the top.

Krugman spoiler, for those too lazy to read, ("We are all fukked!")
