just to say whether you're in Europe or anywhere else, faith surely is not just personal, it embraces all of life including the political arena. Just as having no faith embraces all of life

I think the glass thing is a teleprompter? I agree, I think it's quite clear that Obama only started to go to Church to further his political career and it's sad that he's had to do that. Church and state should be strictly seperate and we should look with fear and suspicion on the overly zealous - no telling what 'God' will tell them to do, like, I don't know.. invade another country for instance.

This is uniquely american, in Europe faith is not important, its a personal matter not a political one. Although I guess a muslim would have a hard time even in europe running for president these days.

i agree. it all seems to be about political disguise - it's more of a need to appear Christian to gain votes rather than say "shit - I have no idea what happens when we die". Or another social beard...

It's not so long ago that politicians felt they would not get anywhere if it was known that they were gay; now lots of politicians of different persuasions are openly gay. Hopefully, it won't be too long before politicians drop this religious pretence and 'come out' as agnostic or atheist.
