Russian SU-27 botches aircraft carrier landing

The pilot's goal is to snag the tailhook of his aircraft onto one of four arresting wires that trail the deck, but this is not a perfect world

um... aerosexual, yes you are wrong, are you watching the same video as the rest of us?, the pilot is on the end of his chute and quite clearly lands after the plane hits the sea

stupid russians

Latest comment: "You're right Aeroflux, pretty obvious really even though I didn't notice 'till you said. However, what is that falling off?, I wonder if it was the pilot shitting bricks?? "

The second plane didn't "take off" he PROPERLY aborted a landing ( tail hook down). First pilot cut his throttles way too soon and suffered the result. Take offs are on the right with the jump ramp

Was he a MUSLIM pilot? They are useless at everything except terrorism.

...and secondly Mooky? We are all hanging on your every word... I like the way the pilot hits the water before the splash from his aircraft.

looks like he snagged one but the linkage snaps

Guest: Mooky (298 days ago)

... also, I just noticed, as the second aircraft takes off, something hits the water and doesn't appear to be Jetwash. anone got any ideas?, didsomehing fall off the Jet or was it a part of the catapault toboggan??

erm, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the plane splash first then the pilot floats down with the aid of a parachute, therefore making aerosexual a grade a moron (probably american)

Firstly, I don't pretend to be an expert, only an aviation enthusiast but looks to me as if he caught the wire but a link snapped (as forrester said). It looks like the plane accelerated slightly as the cable snapped. Carrier pilots are trained to slam the throttles forward as the wheels touchdown in case they miss the wire or whatever, here the aircraft was almost stopped and when the cable snapped he obviously run out of runway. shame, Su-27's are amazing aircraft.
