Latest comment: "keynesian economics doesnt work in the modern era keynes himself stated that his theories were only ment for the specific period in which he was in at the time. He also told other economists that he would change his theories after he got the country out the depression but he died before he was able to "

haha Icelands debt is 10 times larger than its BNP, and they had a right wing government... Were all equally ****** by this recession ;)

Bottom line is, you can't spend more than you make (except for governments I guess - although I don't know why). A private citizen who keeps ringing up credit card bills he cannot possibly repay is irresponsable, but a politician who does the same is not? Ah yes, we must take even MORE from the producers of the world, and give it to the NON producers, debt be damned. After all, it's not we who will have to pay, but our children and grandchildren - unless they too, are non producers.........

A child of Thatcherism who has not moved on I think - remember who devalued society. A quote from Keynes sums it up for me. ''Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all.''

first point of all the reason the recession has hit the uk particularly hard is the fact our economy is dominated by services, which are the most easily effected and the fact we no longer have any real industry, thanks to thacther and finally they are looking it like it is hole in the pocket debt, not keynesian economics
