I know exactly how he did it and I'll tell you all how he did it on Saturday morning ;)

Guest: DW (71 days ago)

Did he buy a ticket with the numbers, thats all I need to know.

Guest: Simon (71 days ago)

He was reportedly not allowed to buy a ticket. He's probably making more doing what he's doing to not need it anyway

Dead easy - your TV transmission isn't 100% at the exact time it's broadcast, there is in fact a delay in it getting through to your tv and shown on screen (you notice this with satilite and analogue tv). So surprise surprise you get a much bigger delay then he states... but he's right it is 'live'. Plus you can tune into the audio only VHF channel and that delay is normally 10-15seconds in advancement of what is onscreen

Guest: kong (71 days ago)

that does not explain the balls sitting there for a very long time on that stand before the lottery was broadcast.

Guest: iin (71 days ago)

the balls were in sight for about 8mins not 15s

I bet you that when he shows the trick, he'll do it in such a way as to leaving us mortals still guessing

Latest comment: "Maybe he has pre-recorded the final scene once for every single combination of numbers (i know that´s a lot, but he did something similar in the trick where he guesses 10 flip coins in a row...he just kept on recording until he managed to get the right 10 flips). That would certainly take him a year of his life. Surely at Channel 4 they can get BBC´s signal with no delay, which is fed into the screen (no split-screen imho). They just need to delay their signal enough to cover the length of the draw and thus know the result in advance. This way they know what scene to feed in once the TV in the stage is turned off (of course, the scene with the winning combination). "

......Its called using a "green-screen"....DUH !!!!

Guest: Mooky (71 days ago)

You obviously don't know much about Derren Brown.. Go watch his stuff. He's unbelieveable..

Guest: Peregrine Trousers (71 days ago)

Sorry Mooky, but DB is an entertainer (admittedly a VERY good one - agreed) but all 'magicians' are inherent liars..they HAVE to be, it's part of their make-up without which their performance would have NO 'mystique'. I do like DB, don't get me wrong....but he does have to earn a crust - the same as the rest of us !! ;)

he got a group of 24 people to use automatic hand writting to guess the numbers work out the average then divide buy 24. people work better in a group apperently this is how he done it not a theroy the reveal was on tv last night

Guest: Antisamit (70 days ago)

Why does he not show the numbers before they apear live? that would be impressive. the reason he gave why makes no sense at all. he says he has not the right to announce the numbers bevor the BBC creates them randomly live? Think about it.

Your point seemed to make no sense until I thought about it

If it's split-screen or clever TV trickery, I'm going to be very disappointed. But as it's Derren Brown, I suspect the trick will be rather good. We shall see.

Guest: Simon (71 days ago)

I'm afraid I think it is. There is a point where ball 1 appears to lift slightly in the stand after the bonus ball is shown. I hope it's not because the camera shake makes it difficult, but if he starts using camera tricks now, he'll destroy much of his credibility.

Guest: Stewpid Merican (71 days ago)

Split-screen. The shaking is done on purpose to mask any visual glitches. Why else would the camera shake like that? Note also that he waits until the end to write the numbers down. That's a distraction to switch from one screen to the other. Otherwise, why risk running out of time to write the numbers on his board? It would be more natural to write them down as they appear.
