I completely agree - they've taken a great technology and made it completely shit. Cumulative maximisation = net shit

Latest comment: "Wow, what a horrible whiny voice. Sorry I sat through this crap. "

Just more ways the so called rights owner can screw money out of the suckers. No wonder anyone whocan rips their disks and when you've ripped it why not share? So what they're actually doing is encouraging filesharing. Idiots. oh and Charlie Booker's rants are a lot better than that.

Amen to that.

Blu-Ray, baby! Another five hundred bucks to watch the same crap you already own, but with the added bonus of having to buy a new version of the crap you already own as well. Enjoy dummies. I don't care how many giga-flips of micro-win fit on each blah-blah just make it really expensive, AND not reverse compatible. Thanks!

If only the DVD producers would take this to heart. I had a 15 minute rant about this just an hour ago. I'd love to the the Redmond lads provide a MS Office for Hollywood edition - when starting the program, you have to sit through 10 minutes of credits. When shutting it down, you have to see a detailed list of everyone involved on the development team, including the tea lady that came around every day with biscuits.

On the contrary - I think this particular rant is justified. The people who make DVDs have it within their power to make things easier for the consumer, but they don't. Too much emphasis on gimmicks and too little on function, I reckon.

Learn how to spell yourself before you go criticizing other people's ingenuity.

How about the fact that if you pause and scan through a DVD (as with most digital video), 9 times out of 10 you end up with the audio and video out of sync? Then you have to stop and restart in order to resync sound and picture. Duh!!

I've gone through three DVD players in five years, and while they have each had numerous technical faults I've never had any of them do that, ever.

I currently have 3 DVD players in my house (all progressive scan) and they all do it. Pause it, run it back 5 seconds, and the sound is out of sync. Keep doing it, and it will get worse. 90% of streaming video online does the same thing, and I've lost count how many times movies on my Digital Cable TV channels look like bad foreign film overdubs...

have to agree aswell, im surprised he didnt mention the anti piracy message. the only place you find anti piracy messages is on legal discs, any pirated disc actually doesnt have them, which makes so little sense.
