My favourite story is Noah, what we learn from this is that the first ever naval architect (nobody else in the world had ever built or owned a boat, or they would have survived) managed to build the biggest boat in the history of the world.

It is an obvious metaphor for the parable that is the sun and the moon for it was said by the Lord Jesus that those who shall commit faith shall be send into the promise and shall see the Light Cane and Abe were more than one person they are symbolic off the struggle between good and evil and they are more than 2 persoen they shall commit the Lord gave more than just Adam and Eve they represent more than 1 people.

Holy god man just enjoy life and let others live theres be it bad or good thats gods most powerful gift. He gave man his own choice

Guest: Simon (112 days ago)

If the bible is to be taken that loosely, how do we know that Jesus isn't a metaphor himself? He could also represent multiple people. It's proven there there were a number of 'messiah's around at Jesus's time.

Guest: Idle Eric (111 days ago)

He wasn't the Messiah.....(all together now)....HE'S A VERY NAUGHTY BOY!!!!

PMSL Classic - Historians are starting to believe that film is much closer to the truth.

Latest comment: "Bah.. The bible's full of Typeo's anyway. For example when being translated into Hebrew the old Aramaic word for "young woman" was incorrectly translated into "Virgin"... Duh. anyway.. you should all read the bible: It's a bloody hilarious read. "

Adam and Eve aren't two individual people, but rather are representative of the start of a nation. The Hebrew word for 'man' is 'Adamah', which is where the name 'Adam' derived from. So God created Adamah (man), and man ultimately disobeyed God. The story of Cain and Able aren't about two individuals fighting, but in fact two nations which battled, with Cain and Able as their respective leaders. Maybe this response will help to clear up the question of incest, etc.

my RE teacher just said "the girls adam and eve had wernt important enough to be documented because they were women". TBH I really dont care because its very unlikely that it actually happend, or atleast very unlikely that it happend in the way the old testament tells it

Guest: Simon (110 days ago)

God or not, there HAD to have been a 'first human being'... There had to be a first woman... Science or God, I think the question still stands.

Guest: Bible_sucks (114 days ago)

yeah right!! For once the bible touting Christian admits he does not know the answer....imagine a scientist saying "we don't know yet how it all happened..." these religious zealots would have hounded him or her...hw can a fairy tale book (the bible) answer serious scientific question...?

Guest: Bob Hoskins (114 days ago)

The problem is that he DOES know how they next generation came along, but it involved, Cain (or Abel) and Eve (his mother). Oooo.

Guest: Guest (114 days ago)

Well, first it must have been Cain, because I believe it was he who whacked his brother, Able. Furthermore, I'd have to read my Bible to state this correctly, but in Genesis, doesn't it list "who begate who"? I think the answer is in the Bible and the good father here just doesn't want to say.

niall1990niall1990 (114 days ago)

Well first of all i dont believe the Adam and Eve story, thought I do God. I think the general consensus among more liberal Christians is that there were other people in the world at this time, outside of the garden, not just Adam and Eve. Though personally I dont think either of them existed.

Guest (113 days ago)

Who are you to pick and choose which part of the Bible you want to believe? It's total bullshite

Guest: Simon (110 days ago)

Because parts of the bible tell Christians to stone naughty children to death... (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) it's best just accept that some elements have no place or logic and best forgotten. The overall message still stands and that's what's important.

Respect biblical incest ! i say they had a 3some with there mom while there dad just sat and watched (with a dirty grin)

Guest: mucmuc (113 days ago)

Following religion require you to accept that there are varying degrees of truth. Just pick whatever facts suit your story.

Guest (114 days ago)

Genesis, Chapter 4, states that Cain and his "wife" had a son Enoch. It doesn't make mention of her name of from where she came, but I think it might be obvious to assume that this was perhaps a sister. I just find it rather sad that this priest on Fox, was not willing to state such and would rather make stupid comments about Adam's belly button.

Guest (114 days ago)

The bible is rife with discrepancies and when you consider that the gospels can't even agree on events, it just smacks of folklore and tall tales. A man who makes a living from religion is stealing a living.

Guest (113 days ago)

What discrepancies are there between the gospels? ...NO internet research allowed. Please name one on your own merit, I'm actually quite curious what you will say. Truly honestly. Keep in mind, four different guys seeing the same motocross stunt will each also describe the motorcycle a bit differently, so piddly things like that don't count. I'm not looking to "win" or lose here, please know. I'm just curious what your views are right now, unaltered.

Its is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man get to into heaven. Its is easier for a PIECE OF ROPE to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven. Not sure which gospels, but that quite a bit different. I know he wasn't on a motor bike while he said it but thats quite a bit different if they were both close enough to hear him say it. But as educated people know the gospels were written generations after "Jesus died".

aelred57aelred57 (113 days ago)

The term "eye of a needle" is mistranslated. What is referred to is a small gate that people have to stoop to get thru. Very difficult for a camel.

Guest: Michael Cain (112 days ago)

Not a lot of people know that. Cor!! Zulus! Thaaaaasands of 'em!!!

aelred57aelred57 (113 days ago)

If you want real discrepancies, read the other 8 gospels. You do know all 12 apostles wrote them don't you. Oh that's right, you just read what the Church wants you to read. Fact is, the "Bible" is just a fraction of the writings about Jesus. The Catholic church hid the rest, but the information is out there, if you care to open your eyes and look.

aelred57aelred57 (113 days ago)

If you take the Bible literally, Cain and Abel had sex with their sisters(incest), and their kids did the same. Since everyone is directly related to each other, we all do it. Then it started again after the flood and the only people who survived were Noah's family. The bellybutton thing is cute. Since Adam and Eve were "created", they didn't need a bellybutton, since that is where the umbilical cord is attached. A more important question is, what size were Eve's breasts?

I would say a 32 B

henpesthenpeSt (114 days ago)

Maybe Sam (Aberdeen) can answer this question. C'mon Sam - what do you think? Give us non-believers a pearl of wisdom.

Guest: WhatABunchOfEffinHypocrites (112 days ago)

Hey! Lets parse the Koran to bits as well! Oh wait, that would make us small minded bigots..... But the bible? Fair game. Hypocrites!

Guest (112 days ago)

Not at all, the Koran is full of as much bullshit as every other religious text. Atheists don't discriminate. It just happens that a lot of us come from a christian background so have actually read the bible or are at least aware of the main fairy tales it contains. By the way if you haven't read the bible you should.... it's hilarious!

cypeqCypeq (114 days ago)

he could say the truth that bible is just alegory and if you believe that genesis is truth from first letter to the last u r just shit head
