Airport security roll out hi-tech body scanners

Manchester Airport introduces x-ray body scanners that can see through clothing leaving little to the imagination. They can even detect prosthetic limbs and breast implants. A necessary move towards safer flying, or an unacceptable infringement of privacy? Is a pat down less intrusive than x-rays of anonymous naked bodies? What about the health risks? So many questions that need answering...

Latest comment: "I would imagine that you should be able to demand a copy of the image under the freedom of information act. "

Yay. That's radioactive tissue damage and a compulsory nudie shoot because some people thought it'd be fun to blow up an aircraft. Just out of curiosity, what would be the ultimate limit of what people are willing to do to fly?

Yeah because the ******* yanks all understand each other........erm just a mo there buddy. I was in Alabama (Mobile) in 2000 and them red knecks (I do believe they are classed as American) can't understand jack shit. I should also point out that almost 15% of the population in the US speak Spanish. So ******* you dumb **** yank!

I'm all for a hassle free experience! and an x-ray style image of my bits to boot! do you get a photo? just like expectant mothers with a baby scan? Now there's a marketing idea!!!!

Can't wait for the first pics of Brangelina or some politicians X-rayed from this one online. Second thought: I will put aluminum foil (wahts that in english?) in my underpants, just to spoil the imaging.

Great idea until they want to investigate the odd shapes down there ;) Just grin and bare it.

The health risks of an undetected weapon/bomb etc getting onto a plane are far higher than those from this detection equipment. It may well be that only those that fit the 'profile' will be scanned or they might just want to check out everyone's under-carriage!

There will by people lining up to apply for that job. Caqll me old fashioned but I would prefer to be searched the old fashioned way, a full body check and then tazerd.

Those people worried about the radiaion risk from the X-ray really shouldn't be flying!
