Never heard that baboon, Bush, speak as eloquently about something so fundamental to basic human needs. He and his cronies were prepared to see US citizens die for the want of a sensible health care plan as long as they lined their pockets.

Fundamental human need? Aren't food, water, and shelter more pressing human needs than health insurance? By your "logic" the government should be providing every citizen with food, water, and shelter first. Health care (or insurance) is not a "Right" any more than food, water, and shelter are. A Right is the ability to make a choice or to act without interference from the government, not to have a "service" mandated on the population. What next? The Right to a vacation?

I just find it astounding that a president, who by finally standing up to major US companies and forcing them to put people ahead of profits, is facing so much criticism. I notice most of the critics are using the same arguments put forward by right wing media. (ie. the thin "food, water and shelter" argument.) The current health system in the US is diabolical. If you have money you are "OK" if you don't "who cares". That sort of attitude in a developed country is nothing short of disgusting. It is saying "we love our nation but not its citizens."

Latest comment: "First of all, the allegation that people are keeling over and dying from the lack of a government mandated health care system in the US is just utter nonsense. YOU CAN NOT BE REFUSED TREATMENT BASED ON ABILITY TO PAY. Period. So stop perpetuating this lie. And I don't think The Constitution and The Bill Of Rights are "thin" arguments. "

Finally some sense in the States. Health coverage for all is a must in any civilized society. Well done Obama, i wish you success.
