Ummm, The huble would not have been able to take the second picture as it circles Earth (which is between the Sun and Mars).

Latest comment: Most likely images from the Reconnaissance Orbiter. Of course bear in mind that they have been colour enhanced since the Martian atmosphere does not permit enough light through to generate such vivid images.
