Top Gear is extremely funny. Their humour is deliberately edgy and they deserved their Emmy for "Best Non-Scripted Entertainment"

who's bill Bryson?

It's a pity you can always tell when James May is reading from an autocue. Can't they teach him how to do it properly?

Bill Bryson has written some excellent books, not all of them travel - in particular check out A Breif History of Nearly Everything.

Latest comment: SallyB, I still like him though.

I take it James May hasn't read much Bill Bryson and therefore doesn't realise that he's lived here for near on 30years and can't stand American tourists with 'their big video cameras...' either, be it here or back in America. Wonder if he'd feel the same about him if he was campaigning to rid the world of wine yuppies or for the preservation of anything old and technical? Doubt it somehow. Nice to see a bit of old fashioned, under educated brainless racism on the normally Oh So Politically Correct BBC though.........

nubnub, it only takes a quick trip to Wikipedia, but anyway, he's a humorous travel writer, but obviously not everyone's a fan.

it is scripted, Clarkson writes the script.I doubt that any writers strike, in case he wasn't, would affect the show, though. They would just do what they do best:go around the corners driving really fast, shouting 'Power!", and generally having fun. This is why 'Top Gear' is one of the most popular shows on Earth.

they dont read from autocues on topgear. they just do some reasearch b4

Well, I've enjoyed several of Bill Bryson's books but never managed to sit through an episode of Top Gear. They're just a group of childish, arrogant, spoiled brats.

Right on... This is for NeilH, who the hell cares what you haven't managed to sit through. You sound like a complete moron anyway!

Non-scripted? Well that may be the official line, but I'd like to see what would happen to this show if there was a writers strike in the UK.
