I would not class that as an optical illusion. That is mearely blocking off the other 5 frames so we can make sence of the 1 that is left.

well, is illusion not a method that helps make sense of an event or object by misinforming our minds sensory inputs; thus tricking ourselves to come to slight or complete erroneous conclusions? This is exactly what this does. If it didn't we would not process it as animated movement. Sure, it isn't as fully immersive as other illusion, but the principle is there.

This could be a really useful educational tool, speaking as a student, I think this would help in the classroom, especially in subjects like biology, where 2D pictures often leave concepts difficult to grasp and may confuse. Sorry about the dreadful sentence structure...
