Hey AlGore, you may well buy that house on the hill, but I'll bet you don't get rid of your winter coat - just in case....

Guest:  (1519 days ago)
yeah, lets see the clip from September to May. Wanna bet it "regenerates" itself?

Guest: Toccata (1517 days ago)
This was filmed during summer. Would a glacier over the sea not be expected to retreat during this time (as arctic ice also partially melts in the summer)? Can we see a time lapse of the same glacier growing in the winter? Or would that not 'help' the cause?

Guest: LearnScienceMorons (1519 days ago)
For those of you claiming that man-made climate change is a hoax, I am sure that you all have PhDs to back up your comments... or do you just believe George Bush monkey? Having said that, this video clearly does show the climate changing... from winter to summer.

Global warming? it's fking freezing!! coldest winter for years.

Guest: Doubting Thomas (1516 days ago)
Hey Learnscience, when you say Cambridge University, do you actually mean The University Of Cambridge? Just wondered!

PC614 PC614 (1519 days ago)
Doesn't it do this every year in line with the seasons? Most retreat, then grow as it warms, cools. Not global warming.

This argument is now a pointless waste of time and energy. Accept as fact that climate change is here and that a significant part of it is man-made. Move on and focus your energies on solutions - that way we all get a better world.

Latest comment: 10-12 feet per day during the summer for a mid-latitude glacier, feeding into coastal water, doesn't sound like a lot of retreat to me. This appears to be a terminus point between two geographic features. The video lacks any reference to data which would go a long way to making it useful. It's real pretty though.

I dont know about you guys but Im going to buy a house at the top of a hill and not the bottom just so that I can watch you all drowning when all the ice melts. ha ha ha

"The world is heating up, which melts the ice caps, which cools the ocean, which stops England being warmed up by the Gulf Stream." So, before we messed things up, the world was cooler, the ice didn't melt, the oceans stayed warm, and it didn't snow in England? You're kidding, right?

Guest: Yo Yo Mah (1519 days ago)
This is just sea ice moving back and forth, nothing to see here, move along please.

London1 you need to suck more black cock 'cos your theory is full of the brown stuff.

If we do what we can to reduce our impact on the environment and climate and the world gets better then that's a good thing, right? If the world stays the same then that's probably a good thing too. We probably can't make things any worse!

The UK has just had its coldest winter for 80 years. So explain that you Global Warming believing twats.

Guest: Rockpool (1519 days ago)
This clip shows the transition of a glacier from Winter (the first few frames) to Summer. Of course it will show a retreat.

Guest: GovernmentIsBadForYourHealth (1514 days ago)
"So do / did cigarette manufacturers whilst telling us that that smoking didn't cause lung cancer." Yes, and The Government also tells us how bad it is, yet continues to pay subsidies to the farmers and allows the products to be sold to the public - heavily taxed of course. So if it's so bad, make it illegal. What? But you'd lose all that tax revenue? Well, well, well, what a bunch of hypocrites, wanting it both ways. Face it, gov't does not have our best interests in mind....

Guest: GlobalWarmingHoaxBuster (1518 days ago)
You mean all the extra uV rays pouring through our now unfiltered atmosphere isn't heating to oceans too? There is more ice melting into the oceans (cooling) than there is warming from uV rays? Come on people, you can't have it both ways. Climate change is natural and cyclical - not man made, in spite of what the self-loathers would have us believe (and pay dearly for). BTW, why won't AlGore debate anyone, why does James Hanson have to fudge his numbers to "prove" his theories?

Guest: learnscience (1516 days ago)
I think you'll find that most alumni aren't really that bothered nowadays. Shame about the boat race.

Guest: IfItComesFromTheUNItMustBeTrue (1517 days ago)
IPCC! hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahaha. No doubt they use James Hanson's data! hahahahahahahahaha

Guest:  (1517 days ago)
Funny how none of these "scientists" dare question his numbers, but seem pretty eager to re-bleat them. Scientists do question results... but only when they think that the fundamental science behind them is wrong. The facts of this case are: Tropospheric measurements showed no warming. Scientists checked why. They found a miscalibration. They fixed it.

Guest: guest (1519 days ago)
i think you'll find the greeks knew the earth was round (even had a pretty good idea how big as well) because they were a science based culture. the earth is flat and at the centre of the universe were ideas of a religiously controlled european culture. climate change is here and ain't going away. sorry.

Guest:  (1519 days ago)
Ooooooooh a film of a glacier melting DURING THE SUMMER. This oughta scare the dimwits to death "Global Warming" or "Climate Change" is dogmatic BS, based on faith, not science. And don't give the consensus crap. Consensus is NOT The Scientific Method. Consensus once held that the Sun revolved around the Earth, and that the Earth was flat. So much for "scientific consensus".

Guest:  (1517 days ago)
"P.S. for those of you bleating "consensus doesn't equal fact" - grow up. The vast majority of scientists carefully apply the scientific method to their results, and make inferences from them. Anyone else on here READ the IPCC reports? I have." One name for ya fella - James Hanson. Notorious numbers fudger (and that's being kind). Funny how none of these "scientists" dare question his numbers, but seem pretty eager to re-bleat them.

Guest:  (1518 days ago)
Oh, and anyone who DARES question the concept of Man-Made Global Warming as espoused by the like of Gore (hypocrite in his big houses and private jet) and Hanson (notorious numbers fudger) is just a "BushMonkey" follower? Mmm Hmm, now there is an open mind ripe for intellectual discussion....

wow, that's a nervous glacier. i better like a cookie with milk

"MissAlanius (1 hour ago)This argument is now a pointless waste of time and energy" Where would the world be without thick chicks

Guest: LearnScienceMorons (1517 days ago)
Wow... easy to provoke idiots... Yes, I do have a PhD - it is from Cambridge University. I now research climate change abatement technologies. Oh, by the way, for those of you who can't understand clear English, I was agreeing that ice melting in summer does not constitute proof of global warming.

Guest: London1 (1517 days ago)
Some of you are too thick to bother debating the issue. You think that ice melting will cool down the ocean ? It's a lot of ice but there's 50 times more volume of water in worlds oceans, if the ice caps melted completely ! Try it with an ice cube and a just a mug of cold water. In 20 minutes the water will barely be colder than it was to start with.

'Consensus' means 'scientific consensus' not religious consensus. That means that if 99% of climatologists say that global warming is man-made, then it is man made. This video does not show that though, the entirety of published science in peer-reviewed scientific journals shows that. (Btw, the cold winter this year was caused by El Nina, warmest El Nina on record).
