U can debate torque or hp OR u can look at it as an energy equation. Those cars are really powerful. If the engine is revving & hasn't stalled, u can assume that engine torque is not a problem, & the energy analysis can begin. The Murc has awd, can go to 60mph in under 4s (thus clutch is strong), & it has slicks: most of the energy (150-350hp) is going thru buddy. It would rip his arms off. The clutch is feathered or its in neutral, and on the brakes.

Re: the Diablo (2WD), a breakstance gets the rear wheels spinning (energy to burning tires) & then slowly let off the brakes until he can't hold on.. Drawing & quartering people (years ago) only took 4 horses, I don't care how strong you are,150hp+ and you've got no arms.

Not entirely correct.. The drawn and quartered would have had the horses moving first so it is their moving mass (kinetic energy) that counts not the hp. Similar for the Lambo. The engine may have that much power but wheels can spin then not all of that power is pulling power. Landy did not move because both it and the big guy have more grip due to their combined weight (sprinter could not pull Gilbert Grape's mum). As for the pulling power of the Lambo if he took of properly, ie no riding of the brakes ect, would that not be the "brake hp" which some smart ass will no doubt quote. Anyone?

Apparently the term i was looking for is "Effective hp" is the power actually turned into forward motion. According to Wikki it is only 10-20% less than the engines brake hp so... if the lambo took of properly it would probably be towing two arms. Or would it?

1st) most morbid research ever... 2nd) I misquoted "drawing and quartering" it has nothing to do with horses (there is no name for when they are used has been used): apologies. 3rd) the 150-350 was my effective hp guess as those 2 cars are higher than that. 4th) with both cars if the gas was hit (with no brakes) almost all effective hp would be focused first on the guys body then on accel.

Latest comment: since joints are held together mostly by muscles, not cartilage, I assume that needed muscle energy output would have to be somewhat close to the effective hp of the car to resist (losses would be everywhere but not great). they cant fake an awd car (1st) so they don't (not in gear) ,with the 2wd car they do a burnout to assist (add loses) until he cant hold on. Real start, i think your right: towing arms.

All that shows is that you get very little traction if you allow the wheels to spin. What came before, when the wheels weren't spinning, I just don't believe: fixed somehow by disengaging the clutch or whatever.

This isn't as impressive as it seems. Sports cars has very little torque (pulling power). If you'd done with a car with a much better torque level, such as a family sedan or a 4x4 (something that can pull a trailer) then this wouldn't have been possible. The less torque a car has, the less it can pull. Sure, the lambo can accelerate quickly, but it's relative pulling power is very little.

Idiot. The Murcielago has 479 Nm of Torque and 4 wheel drive and the Landrover Discovery (LR3 for Americans) has, wait for it, 410 Nm of Torque (for the torquey TDV6) and 4 wheel drive. If you knew anything about what you are spouting then you would realise that cars need torque to accelerate quickly, that is they need to move their weight. Power of course is only related to top speed, acceleration is related to acceleration.

The Lambo may have more torque but there's no way that it has greater low speed pulling power than a Landy. The two vehicles are designed for completely different functions and so can't really be compared when you're looking at a challenge like this.
