From Universe to Multiverse

From Universe to Multiverse

Are we on the brink of a new Copernican revolution? Theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku brilliantly helps us visualise what the truth lurking out there might be.

The usual hand-waving from a mathematician who doesn't know the value of evidence. Bubbles, dark matter and multiverses all the result from trying to fix a cosmological theory (the Big Bang model) which fails to predict new observations. The reporter is right; cosmology has become a priesthood. It converses in abstract maths and shuns anyone who doesn't speak the language. Do a search for Halton Arp and find out why the whole basis of the expanding universe theory is unsound.

Leave him alone, I know most people don't know what's really right but it's his own opinion, you probably have an opinion to which other people think is stupid. SamAberdeen probably thinks God made the universe, as if. I think It's mother nature!!! Yeh!

The SamAberdeen(s) on here are purely attention seekers. They'll argue black is white if they'll think it'll get a reaction. Best to ignore them. It'd be cool if Boreme could add some functionality that allows users to ignore comments from certain users. A kind of 'Sam-cloaking device'.

science is not religion it is a tool and I think Michio Kaku makes a big mistake by dragging religion into his argument just to make it understandable for a broad audience.

Well he was up against a bunghole of a BBC presenter who kept babbling on about burning at the stake. Typical media trying to over-sensationalise a scientific subject. The Dara O Briain: Science doesn't know everything clip elsewhere on here sums it all up brilliantly.

i didnt get the impression that he was using religion, it was actually the presenter that mentioned burning at the stake and michio actually said a priest was actually burnt for saying a similiar thing. michio was having a dig saying that the roman catholics would only worry if there were another pope in another universe. kat

So if dark matter is for all intents and purposes a gravity field without matter in the middle of it, could a large mass of dark matter cause havoc with the solar system if it drifted into it? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I got that part, we can't see it touch it, etc. But it exerts a gravitational force, so my question is can you have a large 'lump' of it? Such as a dark matter planet or sun with a strong gravitational pull that could disrupt the solar system if it came close enough?

Dont be a fool Sam! If God exists (which I do believe he does) he exists in a reality that we dont understand, that we cant concieve... maybe we will one day.. Science is evidential, theories change with every bit of new information. Man could ultimatly prove God? If in Gods will. My favorite saying "God, the Ultimate Scientist" Think Smart Sam... Dont be a Pharasee..

I am not relgious but I appreicate your open minded and more relevant comments. Far more likely to win over people with this sort of rational comment than the bonkers gibbering from such as sam.

Zimbo the Lord spoke to you Sam? Does God know about this? Won't he be upset that you are worshiping Zimbo now? Uh oh, I think you're in trouble Sam. Better hope God understands the use of punctuation better than you Sam.

Still cant work out if your being a comedian and trying to sabotage the argument of honestly religious folks. Or if your just some sort of of totally lunatic that actually believes some of your own outlandish rhetoric. If your serious at least make a valid argument based on fact rather than your interpretation of some sort of magical being.

I don't think science and religion are mutually exclusive. They serve different purposes - religion seeks compassion, and science seeks truth.
