The US are not attempting it. There is obstruction on every front and and incredible resistance to what is basically a common sense idea.

If there ist obstruction (there is plenty), then there must be an attempt first. Without attempt, no resistance. The attempt can be (and maybe will be) futile. And, I agree, it is a common sense idea.

Well done Yanks, you've finally got something in common with Iraq and Afghanistan. Not that I expect you'll be able to find them on the map above....retards.

People can be so silly sometimes. They believe that to have universal healthcare is Socialism. So let's not have the people we have the power to elect control what is good for the masses. Leave it the Insurance companies and corporations to control your pathetic lives and then see how things end up. Americans believe that freedom is choice. That sounds great but when everyone is dumb maybe it's not so hot. It only benefits the rich, i.e.... - the educated.

Excuse me, but in this case, the masses are saying "no thanks". We have no faith in the government. What? Oh let me guess - "We are the government, and WE know what's best for you". Uhm, no thanks.

Latest comment: I agree with you but my point goes deeper. The government is the insurance companys and big corporations. I think we can all agree that they are what controls the government. So the only hope the common people have is to try and grab some of that control away from them.

Another mistake. French Guyana (South America), being part of France (politically) should be blue like France, as should New Caledonia.

The more recent, 2008, map has Greenland, Iceland and several other countries covered - this appears to be an older map.

Idiotic map, as it covers land mass/political boundaries. Last I knew, matters of health related to population, not land area, ergo this map is incredibly pointless. And so is trying to use it as justification for "universal (aka State run) healthcare"

Moron! This map can just as easily be used as justification for not having universal (national/state run) health care. Look at the grey bits! The point is that the USA, being full of stupid Americans, has the same sort of non-inclusive health care system that works for the rich, but not the poor. That's disgraceful for the 'richest' economy in the world. At least Obama is trying to make life better for most Americans, something a lot of Americans don't seem to want.

Socialism - because misery loves company. We don;t want what you have, and we're OK with that. If it makes us stupid - fine. At least we still have the CHOICE. BTW, there are NOT 70 people dying every day b/c they don't have insurance. No one can be denied treatment here. Period. And if it's such an imperative, why wait for 4 years for it to kick in? Lies, from liars, whom I don't want messing with my health.

how is it socialist to have healthcare access for everyone? The goverment aren't going to take your land to pay for someone's healthcare. The goverment aren't going to make everyones wage the same. They're not going to ration food. They're trying to do whats best for the people of America...giving every American affordable access to a doctor, not just the rich. ''All men are created equal''

So let me get this straight, it's fine to subsidise the big companies by paying them billions to keep them afloat, which is a socialist action (government funding to ensure jobs), but it's not OK to subsidise peoples health? It strikes me that the corporations are treated better than the citizens in America. It's ok though, you have the choice (fyi, we have the choice to pay for private insurance here, it's just not necessary because of the high standard of the NHS).

I never said it was fine to bail out the big corps. Most Americans don't agree with that either. One question - how much more expensive is your private care, and is the quality of care better for paying it? And again, no one here is denied treatment, insurance or no. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW.
