Maybe he should grab an OED before commenting: "tidbit" is a contraction of "tide bit", "tide" meaning feast. Some of us former colonists know the Queen's English better than most Brits.

I believe the of "I could care less" meaning "I don't care" comes as a contraction of "If I could care less, I would." We're just too lazy to spit out the whole expression. Should be perfectly understandable, espec ially to people living in Worcestershire.
