all kinds of strict religion is slowing down sicientific progress since it tends to give you all (ussualy wrong) answers about world and life. When u don't agree with them and search for your own answers you are called heretic and at minimum thrown out of religious group but what was practiced over the ages u r ussaly getting killed.

though i support science, i think the argument above if flawed. the reason is simple, most good researchers of all religions work and publish in developed countries. how many people in harvard are muslim, for instance, and how do their productivity compare with the other researchers in harvard? from a research view, an islamic country can be compared with a cristian country from eastern europe, for instance.

In fact there are over 2.6 Billion Muslims and multiplying. Never in history are more and more people turning to Islam. You kill them 'over there' twice the number are emerging in your own country - More Mosques are being built to accomodate them when the synagogues and churches are left empty - let science explain that!

This assumes the correlation is between Islam and lack of science rather than Islam and poverty (or somethng else). It also pretends all science is good and skips over the bad science that kills (like the invention of swords, bullets etc). - a bit simplistic, I'd suggest.

Bob. You missed the point and also your arguement is very flawed. "bad science", really?? Did you make that up all by yourself? I think he is talking about the surpression of science, much like the christians did for over a 1,000 years, is a bad thing. We have achieved, understood, learned and discovered more with science in the last 200 years than religion ever did for people in 1,000's of years.

No need to get patronising, Pat, or if you would like to be patronising with impunity, better check your spelling first.

Oh i'm very sorry for typing r instead of p. I didn't realise the spelling police were out in force today. It still does not detract from my point however you choose to disguise it.

The spelling police are out every day. You might want to look up the spelling of "argument" too. Thunderf00t's logic is specious. Please refer to my other posting about inventions and speaking english.

How exactly would you spell argument Bob? Check the oxford English dictionary mate. Your comment that most inventions are found by English speaking people is also flawed. America inherited English as it's language over German by a slight margin. The new world would inevitably produce more inventions that poor oppressed nations like India.

Europe also embraced science a lot quicker than other nations ergo had an advantage. Europe also suppressed and stole a lot of Ideas form other countries. The Chinese, French, German, Austrian and Italians will also doubt your claim. Most inventions are translated into English for morons like you to understand them. Enough reasons to doubt your claim?

Pat, please let me apologise. I should have realised an ironic application of Thunderf00t's argument to inventions and English-speakers would not be grasped by everyone as a demonstration of its fallacy. I was using it to illustrate how specious his argument is. Oh, and "Oxford" is usually capitalised. Now, what were you saying about "morons"?

No need to apologies but i find talking about the topic rather than trying to link Thunderfoot's argument to one you have made up really does not strengthen your case. I used that logic before and I found that it really falls flat a lot of the time. I would say that Thunderf00t's view is spacious more than specious and although it obviously needs more weight behind it, it is a claim that needs to be thought about.

Surely, if we take the logical structure of his postulates and argument, apply them to another topic and come to a conclusion we both agree to be erroneous - then it it shows the logic of his argument to be false. He is making a series of observations and coming to a false conclusion. That's it, purely and simply: his argument does not stand up to scrutiny.

Hallo again, Pat. I'd spell "argument" as you spelled it the second time rather than in your earlier post. Glad you're learning, mate. You might now want to move on to more advanced topics like the correct use of the apostrophe in "its" when it's used as a possessive pronoun.

Yes. I agree that attention to detail is much more important (and has greater credibilty and intellectual rigour) than spraying mere insults at people with whom you may disagree. I'm glad you're getting with the programme.

Well - either you get rid of this tendency by a. killing all Muslims... which clearly is not very moral. Or b. making sure that universal education is available for all sexes, creeds and classes in Islamic countries. That is more achievable. That is one thing we are doing in Afghanistan, one hopes.

Obs 1: Inventions make our lives better. Obs 2: most inventions come from english-speakers. Obs 3: Not speaking english over the last 800 years is the kiss of death to inventions. Not speaking english, as it's currently practised, is detrimental to inventions. Obviously the world will be better in 50 years if the anti-invention attributes of non-english speakers is either diminshed or the number of people not speaking english is dimished. So what are you going to do about THAT, Mr Thunderf00t?
