I think you are the retard my friend - this is a simple optical illusion created using dissimilar angled triangles - it is well known among anybody who has done high school level maths.

The hypotenuse of the big triangle and the adjacent angles edge are not a straight lines. They have a curve to them. If you take the area of the yellow square and divide it by the length of the hypotenuse of the big triangle you see its a hair line of difference which is hidden in the curves.

Actually, I downloaded the template and used photoshop to trace a line along the hypoteneuse, and it seems to be totally straight to me.

Great illusion, but doesn't work... excess width and depth created from the reshuffle is equivalent to the gap created. He squeezed it in, nice though...

this is a great metaphor for many things in life- rearranging things can take advantage of the little gaps that are all around to make one big gap that you can actually use.

Latest comment: Ding! This is the best answer so far! The smaller of the 2 trapezoids is a slight bit shorter than it appears, and when assembled in the configuration without the square gap, there is actually a long thin gap between the top of the smaller trapezoid and the right triangle at the top. That thin gap becomes the square gap when rearranged into the other configuration.

lol...those who say: "it's because of the soft edges" why don't you accept that you can't understand it and go back to school and learn some maths?
