What caused the Big Bang? What caused the Big Bang?

(6:28) Whatever the truth, it will be extraordinary. It is a question that borders on philosophy as much as it does on hard science. The problem is that whatever path you take to the truth, you are always faced with the same unanswerable question: what caused that? Unanswerable unless the answer is that you don't need a cause for something to exist. And that concept rocks the very foundation of human logic.

If the big bang was the beginning of time, then obviously everything was unprecedented not only the expansion of the universe, or am I getting something wrong here?

So... In six and a half minutes some stupid American has managed to explain very slowly that the answer to the question “What caused the big bang?” is quite simply – ‘We still don’t know!’ Dog bless America…

Well....that didn't explain much.

I'm not going to run near lions if I'm painted a dark colour.

Latest comment: How can anything begin out of nothing? I think there must of been something before the Big Bang. You are saying the Big Bang is made out of nothing. You need something to make something. I believe the Big Bang was like a Supa Nova effect, maybe like the beginning of a new Star. There must of been something before the Big Bang for the Big Bang to occur. We just have not found it yet, so we just go with the simplest explanation there is. Why is that? Why not just say we don't know? The Big Bang is just a theory. No one honestly knows. You sa y Time and Space did not exist before the Big Bang. You need time and Space for the start of any existence. If you did not have Time and Space, where and when does something start to exist? For me Time and Space have always existed. There may of been nothing in this Time and Space before the Big Bang, but then I thought there must of been something for the Big Bang to occur. We just don't k now what that is yet. That is what I would like to know. what was before the Big Bang? That's the question I wpould be asking.
