The hosts bring a lot of examples, where christians harm others, but this 'argument' could be turned around by just giving a lot of examples, where atheists harm others (think of communist countries, which were atheist as well...) or could turn this against believers of a random other religion... Scientists would call that a fallacy of accident.

I merely chose to comment on a single argument, rather than the whole clip. Maybe I should have made it clear enough, so even the dumbest can understand...

They weren't making an argument. They answered a request for such examples. If there is no argument, where is the fallacy?

Latest comment: inherent in the question: "whom does church harm?" was a request for an explanation of the general harmfulness of church, which she argued for. You woudn't answer the question "whom does medication harm?" with "there's thalidomide, there's..." to show that medication in general is harmful, would you?

Yep. He is at the end - but it seems like he started out as a "wise guy" trying to put one over - and his normal smug self-righteousness was countered with logic. Let's hope he's had some food for thought

I appreciate the clarity, patience and gentleness of the hosts. It is a beautiful example from which all theists and atheists could learn. The cynical side of me says Mike was a plant by the atheists to make Christians look stupid, however, I also have enough experience with members of the church to know that it was probably authentic.

I guess some people (the caller) don't understand clear, concise logic. Very sad.

Well done to the atheists there. I've been through this stuff so many times, I've got fed up and stopped trying. It always come down to the fact that religious people "have faith" and non-religious people don't. (and I felt a bit sorry for the woman on the right. I hope she got to talk more with the other callers)

As usual A Christian HAS A HARD TIME HEARING and HEARING THE TRUTH. I haver had this discussion and argument with a good few and they still can't seem to listen while they impose their will on you somewhere in the conversation. And Gifford surviving was not an act of God. It was a miracle and only that.

Most people use the word 'miracle' without superstitous connotations to describe a improbable, but positive outcome of a negative event.

Most people have religious beliefs and would believe a miracle to be an act of God.
