VW electric folding bikeVW electric folding bike

(2:19) Volkswagen revealed an electric bicycle at Auto China 2010 in Beijing. Apparently destined for production rather than just remaining a concept, as so many great ideas seem to. I can't wait.

And where do you put the spare wheel after putting the bike in its place?

How do you pedal it when the battery is flat?

You wouldn't expect to pedal a car or a motorbike home if you run out of petrol, so why should you expect it on a two-wheeled electric vehicle. It's unnecessary extra cost, weight and complication when all you have to do is fold it up and get on the bus.

Good for the environment?? An electrical bike substitutes walking or traditional bike. Thus the opposite of environmentally friendly. More complex in production, and electricity may come out of the wall, but it needs to be produced. Why cannot people get it that electrical vehicles are (hopefully) better for the environment if they substitute fossil fuels. But the electricity for cars, bikes, is usually produces from burning fossil fuels, so the gain is somewhat limited.
