Cori Wong responds to 'Asians in the library'Cori Wong responds to 'Asians in the library'

(13:16) Feminist philosopher Cori Wong gives her take on UCLA student Alexandra Wallace's outburst over the Asians crowding her epiphanies in the library. I prefer Morgan Freeman's approach to racism: boreme.com/posting.php?id=21098

Doe, even though you are not appreciating her explanation about racism because she doesn't mention racism against Caucasians - you are describing how you feel discriminated as a Caucasian - very interesting discovery!!!! So take how you feel discriminated and imagine this is how Asians, Latinos, Blacks etc feels. All she is saying racism is born out of generalization without acknowledging people are different and they have the right to be different without being tagged. The right that you claim as a Caucasian to not be discriminated is the right every race (that answers the Guest post below as well)

Ref: DM/Doe. I have to agree with Doe to a certain extent on the point that she doesn't mention racism to Caucasians, and DM's response that just because a person is 'white' does not give them exclusive immunity to racism. I (a white male living in East Asia) have myself been a 'victim' of racism, simply because I am in the minority. I find it interesting how local children call me 'white monkey', 'big nose', or 'round eye' and yet their parents think its cute. I don't take offence personally, I take it as part of the culture rather than the children being actively malicious. There's an interesting discussion, how to seperate culture and racism without a defecit to the culture?

Only four minutes into this and already fed up of being patronised. I also think it's massively hypocritical that she lists anti-black/hispanic/Asian racism but not anti-caucasian racism. For someone who is enough of an expert in the field of the philosophy to have been asked to make this video, she certainly fails to recognise that racism is between one race and another, not white people and every other race. To even attempt to make the point that bringing race up in conversation, whatever the context, thinking or question, is massively naive, self-deluding and a dangerous mindset for someone who is being allowed to teach people. Ten minutes into the video now, still thoroughly underwhelmed and unimpressed with the non-argument being covered up with wordy rhetoric, something that will not serve her or anyone else in the real world.

Oh my God, I'm so glad I am out of college. Cori Wong reminds me of every whiney feminist I ever knew in college. Everything is racism, everything is sexism, everything needs to be unpacked, or analyzed from an intersectional perspective. In the regular world nobody cares about this dumb shit. Why can't someone point out that it's odd that Asian families come to visit students in the dorms and take over the space? This happens and it stands in contrast to the usual American manners/mores so it appears odd and weird. Just like if an American went to Japan and failed to follow Japanese customs; the Japanese people would think the American was weird. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Only in America can you act like you still live in another country and then expect everyone else to not notice.
