Sachal Studios Orchestra play Brubeck's Take FiveSachal Studios Orchestra play Brubeck's Take Five

(5:53) Strange combination of Jazz and Indian music cultures. An interesting idea that should never have become reality, or do you vehemently disagree? Next video is Dave Brubeck Quartet playing Take Five in 1966.

It's nice to hear a fresh look on a well loved, well worn song.

What do you call a 'normal' sax? It's an alto.

I fail to understand the damning criticism of this charming effort. It's only doing in reverse what Peter Gabriel did with Nursat Fateh Ali's Sufi quawwali. That was fantastic, so is this.

Just for reference - it's a Pakistani orchestra from Lahore... :)

Paul Desmond wasn't using an alto sax. He was using a normal sax.

A Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto, to be precise. Not exactly normal, but still an alto sax.

Latest comment: I heard this on BBC World Service about a week ago and just HAD to track it down. For me it is magic music - I keep playing it over and over again. But each to his taste...
