NBC omits 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance is the oath of loyalty to the USA for its citizens composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892. It reads "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". Actually, Bellamy's original pledge was "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". "Under God" was added in 1954. During the US Open 2011 golf championship, NBC omitted "under God" and "indivisible" from its coverage and was forced to apologise after the uproar it caused.
