She should have thought about the importance of her reputation. He goes home as a decent human being, with the reputaion of a fair and honest person that can be trusted. She goes home with some money and as a someone people will not trust, she will be lied to, stolen from: Quid pro quo. In other words: having been given the chance to demonstrate to everyone her integrity, she blew it, he won.

And we all know how car dealerships need integrity. Her family and friends will all hate her as they're browsing those travel brochures... it's the real world, she won a game.

Horrible case. And boreme.com is degrading. Even a commercial for giving your opinion in the poll? Hm... Mr. Boreme has entered the greedy ones too. I leave boreme. Thanks for the time where you were better, more kind. (And now probably a commercial for sending this? There are enough of adds here as it is. Shame on you.)

Bye then. I'm pretty sure he screwed her over once before so there is a story behind it. So, it's hardly an add (sic)!

This is a simple problem. You EXPLICITLY tell the other person that you are going to steal regardless of what they are choosing. THEN, you tell the other person that if he/she chooses split, then you will split the money with him/her afterwards. To make this work, you explain to them that there is no reason for you to lie in choosing steal, because there are no advantages for you to chose split. (Think about it, I cbf to list all the combinations) This them gives him/her 2 options, either to choose steal and have 0% chance of winning, because it is known that you WILL choose steal, OR to choose split, and have a remote possibility of you giving him/her half (or at least a bit) of the winnings. A rational decision for him/her would be to choose split, as it gives them a better chance. Now the logic in this may be flawed, in that they might argue that you should trust them INSTEAD. Just stay firm on stealing, and they will eventually give in. This situation benefits you the most, as you either gain everything, or no one gains anything. You will never lose. Of course, once you win, you split the money with him/her, keeping to your promise. Or you could keep all the money for yourself...

Did he stab her in the back before or was it just someone did? ALSO in terms of game play, he told her what he was going to do in a very convincing way even in pre question body language. She strategically beat him hands down no question. THE BITCH. But aren't they all?

Well played, it's a game in which being good at convincing your opponent of a falsehood is the task. She was good at the task and won, he was bad at it (ie gullible) and lost. She's no more a bitch than if she had beaten him by bluffing in poker. She didn't take HIS money at all, he left with the same he came with because he lost the game. The comments on here should really be about what an idiot he was, he gave her no reason to split and reassured her that she would win if she stole.

Funny thing with this setup, if your opponent steals, you gain nothing by stealing, other than denying them the prize. His decision to split in no way changed his own outcome.

gain nothing? I think he would have gained the strength to have held his head up (which seemed to suddenly get too heavy) and say - yea, there you go, there it is, stuff you. And I think he would have made it home instead of wandering aimlessly around moping about miserable bitch lying double crossing women.

Women seem to choose steal (ie. lie) more often than men. The stats are complicated though - if a statistician can summarise this for the rest of us, that would be appreciated: LINK

There are 4 outcomes: Steal/Split - You win 100%. Steal/Steal - You lose. Split/Split - You win 50%. Split/Steal - You Lose. You're better off statistically stealing every time. The human element complicates things however. He was obviously genuine in this round, but she went home with lots of money... hard to say who really won.

On the face of it, maybe. But both parties will think that way, choose steal and lose. I think it's better to choose split. If the other person chooses steal, you would have lost anyway.
