Ron Paul - Wikileaks reveals US approval for Kuwait invasionRon Paul - Wikileaks reveals US approval for Kuwait invasion

Courtesy of Wikileaks, cables between Baghdad and Washington, one week prior to Saddam Hussein's attack on Kuwait in 1990, showed that the US administration under George Bush Sr. gave tacit approval for the Kuwait invasion.

Unsurprisingly, Ron Paul once again proves he does not have a clue (or perhaps more likely is deliberately lying about the meaning of the cable) . See link for the full text of the cable in question as proof.

@David Knoll. Thanks for this information. Links in comments don't work very well. This is a short (and working) version of the link you provide: link

To summarise David Knoll's link to EA WorldView website: US ambassador April Glaspie's quote "we took no position on these Arab affairs" was a comment on a side issue about the Iraqi/Kuwaiti border, rather than the brewing and very serious Iraqi/Kuwaiti dispute over the control of some oil fields and Kuwait's insistence that Baghdad repay loans for its war with Iran. It was also within a discussion where Glaspie had already made clear that "we can never excuse settlement of disputes by other than peaceful means".

Latest comment: You're right. If you read the full cable, it's pretty obvious there was no green light for Saddam to invade Kuwait. So much for Ron Paul saying it as it is. He either didn't read the cable, wasn't concentrating when he read it, or made up his own conclusion.. Don't believe me? Then go see for yourself. link
