They're both right, and that's the problem. Society states that they have to be one or the other. It's an excellent example of how we use prejudice to arrive at where we want to arrive, and yet how prejudice has been turned into something considered essentially destructive. Stupid human beings.

Mixed race people tend to have stronger, healthier genes according to a documentary I saw. It makes sense - before people travelled much, they evolved for survival in their particular geographic area (eg Europe). Mix with genes from another geographic area (eg Africa) and the result is a stronger, healthier set because it contains the best of both. It's more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it.

As much as I love Ali's poetry, and even his boxing, I'm on Parkinson's side. The right thing to do would be to improve the health for all, so mixing races is the way to go.

MissAlanius, I agree. Besides, have you ever seen how cute a Jamaican/Korean mixed race baby is?

Ali had a temper and a very big head that let him down now and again but he will be remembered for having his own principles and a brilliant mind. Oh, and he was a good boxer as well.

Latest comment: Muhammad Ali was/is the most famous racist of all time. I hear so many people talk about "oh, it was a different time" and such and such. Yes it was. But it doesn't change the fact that racism is racism regardless of when it happens and Ali is the most famous racist of all time.

One BIG problem with Ali's argument is that his bird comparison is about different species, and of course different species don't mate: however, black pigeons mate with white pigeons, red roosters with black hens, and it just doesn't bother them at all. The second problem is that content and discontent in relationships has nothing to do with sharing race, religion or culture. Black/black relationships have no monopoly on success or failure, but neither do white/black relationships.

Seconded

Had Ali been white, those comments most likely would have been construed as racist.

You are right about those comments being racist but that doesn't make them wrong. There is a lot of truth in what he says.To love ones race is not bad,he was not denigrating other races just extolling his own.

Guest:  (612 days ago)
What is wrong is that a white would be attacked from all angles for saying the same

Fact. In fact they are racist but most people think racism is a white "condition" for want of a better word. But be careful, as to call a black racist means you would probably be called racist yourself.

I agree with Ali..When ever I see a black guy with a white women they are always big titted blondes and the black guy has tons of money. I think why does he not wish for the company of some georgous black women who looks like his mum and sisters..Surely he would wish for children who look like him..It is the only immortality you will get..I think it is because in his feelings of inferiority now matter how misplaced he feels he is hitting back by getting what he percieves as what the white guy would love to have.

What Ali has said as a Black person, he can say that and get away with it. So can all the other races - EXCEPT white people!!! The reason why white people cannot get away with it is that they have treated ALL the other races as being inferior to them. They have enslaved people for centuries and under the guise of equality in their nations, they have suppressed them in education and jobs. You can admit it or deny it - it is there and ONLY the non-white person can see it and most white people will not admit it!

Learn the history of the world before you make stupid comments. Every race can be accused of slavery at some stage. the egyptians used slaves to build the pyramids. The Barbary pirates were raiding Ireland and Britain back in the 15th/16th centuries for slaves. And to this day it is still widespread across Asia and the Far East. So. you cant say it is/was that white man only that was involved in slavery
