American families living in cars

(14:10) Hard times in America today. 60 Minutes talks to impoverished families living in cars. The conservative attitude towards poverty is shocking. Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich states in his white paper on how to dismantle the social safety net: Deny single mothers any benefits at all. Make them work and if they can't find a job or can't work, well, too bad. Let them starve. Rand Paul (Republican): We shouldn't borrow from China for unemployment benefit extensions to pay people not to work. David Vitter (Republican): Gut the food stamp program.

Charity starts at home. Stop giving away money to countries that line their rulers pockets. We don't need to be the worlds policeman, or caregiver. Sudan needs water? Don't send bottles of water, send well drilling equipment. Teach the latest agriculture techniques for their soils and climates. A hand up, not a hand out. Nonviolent criminals need to be on house arrest with an ankle bracelet monitoring their coming and goings to WORK or training. Its $60,000 a year to keep someone incarcerated. $15,000 for home arrest, and the court usualy makes them pay for it.

You get no argument from me, pal. It may be controversial to say it, but withdrawing troops from the middle east would save money as well as lives.

Just wait til we are out, and then Bob's your uncle. Oh and are we supposed to pay to rebuild Iraq? What about the Trillion we paid to liberate you guys? Ok we'll call it even. Except of course for the shocking loss of civilan life.
