Could someone explain to me why the 'antis' define corporarations as machines and are not people. I understand that people are not corporations and 99% of people are not in control of a corp but 1% are owners of corp that make decisions that f**k things up for the remaining 99% so should be held to account.

I think the machine refers to the mass. When people become large groups, anonymity is afforded, and it is well documented that corporations routinely commit what would considered psycopathic acts when viewed in the context of a single human being. It's not the fault of the corporation per se, it is the lack of recognition by all of us of how human beings act when shielded within large groups (with considerable financial clout too!). My view is that is what creates the possiblity of acting the way they do.

If you take out a CEO or investor of a corporation another will take it's place. The corporation is therefore independent of its members.

I'm not a lawyer or American, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. In US law, corporations have the same rights as an individual person based on the idea that corporations are made up of many individual people. The problem is that this allows corporations (acting as an individual person) to financially back political campaigns without limits.

The answer is to limit govt. powers. If you limit govt. powers so they can't bend the law and give favors to big business then you take away the incentive for big business to corrupt govt. This guy is looking more and more like an IDIOT! The problem is Big Govt not big business, big business will always do what it can and it will corrupt govt. if it can and there is a reason to.Take away the power govt. has and you solve the problem.

That's the strangest logic I've heard for a while. Limit government so big business can't corrupt them? The problem is corruption, not whether government is big or small. Your argument is similar to sharia law that requires women to wear burkas on the basis that if they don't, men will do undesirable things.

Not at all,I said "Limit Govt. power".Big business will ALWAYS corrupt govt. for their own ends.More power to govt. doesn't solve anything as it just enables more power to corporations.Look at whats happened now,you have the biggest strongest govt in history and so is the corruption. You can't stop the regulators being taken over from the regulatees, this has been known for centuries...one of govt. main, limited roles is to enforce the rule of law,THAT is whats missing because Govt. is so powerful it has one set of rules for us and another for it's friends.Take away the govt.s powers to grant favors and you take away the incentive to corrupt it.Whats so strange about that?

Latest comment: Take away the role of government and you will be left with a country ruled by corporations whose only goal is to make profit by catering to those who can help ensure it and by sabotaging those who oppose it. Many of society's most important functions for the general populace are not supported by this 'philosophy', like education and health care. Do you see corporations providing these services? What kind of country creates a situation in which these basic rights become the domain of those who are wealthy enough to afford them?
