Anthony Griffith - The best of times, the worst of times

(9:22) A comic must always be a comic, even if underneath he's suffering excruciating heartbreak. Anthony Griffith tells his story of such a comic at the Moth, US Comedy Arts Festival. Can you watch this without shedding a tear?

I have no idea how he got through that. I have three daughters and to think of any one of them being ill makes me go cold. This man has my deepest respect for not only enduring his child's illness and eventual death, but for speaking about it in public. I'd just want to crawl away and cry for the rest of my life.

Blacks can never be too funny if I were asked. Why? As they have had far too much serious troubles in their histories. Such as slavery and the AIDS epidemic. Thus, it is difficult for them to be titteringly funny in a humerous manner (also their lesser intelligence).

Needs to work on some new, lighter material, because this didn't make me laugh once.

It takes incredible courage to reveal something so personal and devastating. There are two masks, comedy and tragedy, even in life.

Latest comment: This is unbelievably moving, and every parent's nightmare. I believe this world, this life, can be a cruel place regardless of our station in life. The only choice we have that will make a difference is how we respond to God through Jesus Christ. That's the honest Truth. Today Anthony Griffith travels around with a comedy troupe, visiting churches and bringing people to Christ. There is no higher calling.
