Can't tell exactly from the distance. But from the size it was most likely a gar or a catfish. These are the largest freshwater fish in the area. It was already dead, so technically it wasn't "prey", but "carrion".

The hath maketh birds who fly and swim. Man, who is constantly atheistic, thinks he doesn't need thy Lord any longer as he is sooooooo smart. Yet, he cannot maketh, from steel and whatnot, what thy Lord can design in his mind. Namely, a bird who can fly and swimmeth and use intelligence! Yes, you will never see this eagle deny thy Lord! Haha. Fools. And you thought your boeing was impressive!? The Lord laugh at you.

Sure you can. You can swim the Channel, so after such a feat, you could claim that you swam it.
