There is only one option right now: nuclear power. This is simple, safe, inexpensive (despite Chernobyl and Fukushima, it's still the safest form of energy generation bar none). Let's just build some Gen IV reactors already.

Duh! easy answer nuke China and India off the planet. This solves a lot of problems. Jobs will come back to the west, about 1/4 of the planet's population will be curbed, and the oil-producing nations will get religion quickly and open the damn spigot for the west.
