Guest: What losers
Been travelling for 37 years, been to 35 countries so far in every continent, some of them several times. The US was the only place I was treated like shit at the border and will NEVER return again.

As a UK citizen who used to go from Canada to the US, I found the guys at the border absolute HORRIBLE PEOPLE. They shouted and screamed just like that all that.

As a frequent traveller, I find it to be a pleasant experience. If one approaches the border officials with a modicum of respect, one will be treated with the same respect. The USCPB has NEVER caused me any grief, and has shown repeat and professionalism AS IS THEIR MANDATE. Read the statements posted by USCBP at EVERY border crossing and you will understand.

Aussie here - the border guard says "why you coming here". I said "I'm on a holiday, touring US and Canada". He says "why?". I say " as I just said I'm on a holiday and wanted to look around the US and Canada". He goes ape-shit at me and screams "answer the question". Total dickhead with low IQ.
I certainly won't be spending any more of my time or money in the country - So up themselves.

Exactly the same - customs guys are very difficult on the US-Canadian border. They almost panic when they dont see a Canadian or US passport or travel document.

Seriously, who would want to go to any country - USA or otherwise - and be treated like this? There are so many other, and more interesting, countries to visit.

Read "The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy" by Jim Marrs. You will see why our governments want us all to distrust one another and feel fearful all the time for no reason. It's all a sham. It's for more control at the top.

The guy provoked it and caused the problem and the border guard was loving it - you could tell the more the guy wouldn't shut it the more the guard was determined to get his hand up his arse. The guy was an absolute prick!

10/4....in the beginning, the canadian was doing alot of snickering....there towards the end...not so much. I mean, acting like that coming through a New York border...?....what must he have been thinking. ye, thought he was bieng cute till they slapped the ol cuffs on him. better steer clear of the california, arizona and texas borders.....they wouldve had the cuffs on him five minutes quicker. the proper response shouldve been Yes Sir...No Sir...As many stores as my wife can drag me to ....Sir! I mean, New York had a big chunk of thier skyline removed, of coarse they are going to be a little uptight. he's lucky they didnt do a body cavity search.....because they could've.

I also wondered if it was maybe a dramatization by American border guards to warn Canadians against being cocky. As to the recording, many people will start their voice recording app on their cell phone when they expect a confrontation.

Sure, the guy had a big mouth. Just don't forget how it all began: with the Canadian guy saying he didn't know which stores he would visit... Yeah right! Let's give HIM a hard time. After that, of course he is uncooperative. And could someone explain to me when did Canadian Guy make a threat to the officer? Honestly I didn´t hear that.
Oh, and yeah he was dumb, if he would have just cooperated it would have been over soon...

ReplyVote updownSpam?

Probably not, but you might be able to give an example of the type of store! Remember these people have to protect their country, what if this Canadian were a drugs mule? They can't search every car, but if they find that the traveller doesn't really know where he's going or what he's doing, they'll have a reason to.

border inspectors have the awesome responsibility to screen massive numbers of travelers individually in a matter of minutes. should they make a mistake, it could endanger the safety of either or both countries, and even strain relations between the two governments. anyone who cannot put their oversized ego aside and in any way become less than totally respectfull and cooperative with these federal law enforcement employees deserves to be locked up for a long time. guess there is no limit to stupidity when someone decides to stop at nothing to do their shopping LOL.

As a Canadian I have to say that while this situation would be annoying, it is (from my experience) very rare. You will always find people of authority who choose to be pricks. I have always found US border guards (where I cross) to be very polite, very professional and occasionally friendly. I am old enough to remember when crossing the border was more of a formality with far less authority. Where I live (Thousand Islands), people on opposite sides of the border frequently have more in common than with people in their own state or province.. So it is unfortunate that now the border and crossing it has become more of an event. But the same reasons for tightening up the border also puts pressure on the border guards and not all of them react well. You will probably find just as many overzealous guards on the Canadian side if you look. This event is a circumstance of the times not of the country.

Just for the record, some of us Americans find this behavior as disgusting as everyone else. Not all Americans act in the ridiculous manner as you see in the media. Obviously, an apology is an order from the Border Patrol. I realize they have a job to do, but this seemed a little out of line.

Nazi tactics.. Well i guess its in the Genes in for some people. As soon as they get the uniform on, they project there poorly social mingling skills and home domestic problems, into the society.
Its a very self destructive attitude that serves no benefit, for there own role as law enforcers.

The line of work of an American police officer is something like this:
-Where are you going to?
- ABC shopping mall
-Which shop are you going to?
-Home Depot
-What are you going to buy there?
-I am going to buy a hammer.
-What are you going to buy a hammer for?
-I am going to build a treehouse.
-What are you going to build the treehouse for?
-For my children.
-How many children do you have?
-Three
-Boys or girls?
and so on and on and on, and this is how you will easily find three terrorists a day.

49 bodies were dumped in Mexico today by drug barons. They don't even need to hide the bodies! That's how much control they have! The US is a police state, and so is the UK, but you know what? I'd rather be that than when Mexico are going through right now! Somalia likewise is chaos... you can't have it both ways
